In recent days, dialogues were started for the generation of knowledge between Pideka and the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University on the production of cannabis and its derivatives with international pharmaceutical grade standards.
After signing the cooperation agreement, the first meeting was held between the professional teams of the two parties, to publicize PIDEKA's medicinal cannabis production units, as well as to initiate the technical dialogue regarding the issues. of research and provision of services to be included in said research work.
The topics of joint interest focus on the biological control of pest insects, the evaluation of soils and water, the phytochemical characterization of the transformed products, the culture physiology, the development of knowledge of protected environments, as well as topics of education on the production and cultivation of cannabis, in the training of students as an internship and undergraduate work in the PIDEKA facilities.
According to the researcher, Ing. Luz Stella Fuentes, director of the Bio-Systems Center of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, “this technical cooperation agreement is a great opportunity to generate high-level knowledge by unifying academic - private sector efforts that contribute to the consolidation of the productive system. "
For his part, the head of research and development of PIDEKA, PhD Javier García, stated that "joint work between related institutions will streamline the need to collect scientific evidence required by the Cannabis production system in the country and will strengthen its position against competitors international, as a chain with entities that see in a serious way and based on knowledge their actions in the productive environment of the world. "
Starting from the technical meeting, the generation of knowledge will be prioritized through the consolidation of joint research projects in the development of safety analysis methods and the phytochemical characterization of the company's products required by the country's regulatory entities and the demanding international markets.
